Learn more about how an aerospace engineer turned healthcare integration from time consuming and expensive to fast and affordable.

I started two healthcare companies for two different applications.  Both of them struggled to interface with the EHR using a standard API.

I founded this company earlier which started with my thesis at MIT. I needed to design air foil inside an aircraft engine by trying different configurations and optimize performance. It was pretty difficult to also to connect to that software. Then I realized that I could write a software robot to simulate a human and interact with the software through the user interface and I was able to solve the problem very quickly.

After I graduated, I went to GE Global Research Center, took the idea and applied it to many GE businesses including aircraft engine, power plants, light bulb, major appliance, motors, what have you. For example, I helped GE redesign the GE 90 engine that powered the Boeing 777 aircraft and saved GE $500 million dollars.

Later on, I spin off a commercial company with General Electric backing and applied the technologies world wide to many industries – aerospace, defense, automotive, power generations, lighting, TV – many other industries were able to use this software technologies to solve the integration problem.

The healthcare space if different. They have a very specific requirement that makes it a lot more challenging to do this method, but I was able to overcome this with my two decades experience of how to apply these technologies to solve the integration problem. It’s been exciting to see the spread of this technology to many different uses in healthcare.

Just like my first company, we took it from aerospace to automotive, power generation, lighting, consumer electronics and many other different applications. We’re now starting with population health to telemedicine, HIE, DME, clinical research, patient check-in, checking registry, and many other uses of healthcare.

With these technologies, the opportunity to make an impact in healthcare is endless.
